Global Initiative on Psychiatry, HealthNet TPO and Estuar joined forces to raise awareness on mental health as an important developmental aid issue. With support of the European Commission and NCDO the Mental Health Battle 2009-2010 took place in four European countries: Bulgaria, Lithuania, The Netherlands and Romania. Students and mental health professionals were invited to enter the Mental Health Battle, and write a paper with inventive solutions for dilemma's concerning mental health in developing countries. The two winning teams will visit the HealthNet TPO mental health programme in Burundi in September 2010.
On April 7th the winners of the Mental Health Battle were announced at an afternoon conference in Amersfoort. We were vey happy that Florence Baingana, chair of the jury, was present to announce the winners.
Educationists in Balance was the best Dutch team and Actor from Romania was the best team in the second category (please note that team Actor is referred to as 'Improving Mental Health' in the video).
